Lorella de la Cruz Iglesias has a Law degree and a Master on European Union Law by the Spanish Universidad Aut'noma de Madrid. She works in the European Commission since July 2001. Following a 17-year experience on various aspects of EU trade policy at the Directorate-General for Trade, she joined the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE) in April 2018 as Deputy Head of Unit for Blue Economy Sectors, Aquaculture and Maritime Spatial Planning. She is also the leader of the team responsible for aquaculture and blue biotechnology in the Unit. Other than her mother tongue (Spanish), she speaks English, French and Portuguese.
